音楽は、しばしば「世界共通の言語」といわれます。しかし、音楽による国際文化交流とは、ただ同じ舞台に立ち、同じ曲を演奏することだけではありません。その作品が生まれた土地の歴史、言葉、人々の感情や価値観に目を向け、互いの文化を理解しようとする姿勢があってこそ、本当の交流が始まります。
異なる文化と出会うとき、大切なのは、違いをなくすことではなく、その違いに耳を傾けることです。発音、音色、リズム、感情の表し方など、音楽にはそれぞれの文化が育んできた感性が映し出されます。自分とは異なる表現を受け入れることは、相手を知るだけでなく、自分自身の文化や音楽を見つめ直す機会にもなります。
また、国際文化交流は、一方が自らの文化を紹介し、もう一方が受け取るだけのものではありません。互いに学び、影響を受け、新しい表現を生み出していく双方向の対話です。そこでは、著名な音楽家だけでなく、学ぶ人、聴く人、地域の人々も文化をつなぐ大切な担い手となります。
秦千懿とTIVSは、中国と日本で積み重ねてきた経験を出発点としながら、交流の視野を特定の二国間に限定せず、アジアから世界へ広げていきたいと考えています。国籍や言語の違いを越えるだけでなく、それぞれの違いを尊重し、音楽を通して対話を重ねること。それが、これからの国際文化交流に求められる姿ではないでしょうか。
When encountering a different culture, what matters is not eliminating differences, but listening attentively to them. Pronunciation, tone, rhythm, and ways of expressing emotion all reflect the sensibilities cultivated within each cultural tradition. Embracing forms of expression different from our own allows us not only to understand others, but also to reconsider our own culture and musical identity from a new perspective.
International cultural exchange should not be a one-way process in which one side presents its culture and the other simply receives it. Rather, it is a two-way dialogue through which people learn from one another, influence one another, and create new forms of expression together. In this process, not only distinguished musicians, but also students, audiences, and members of local communities play an important role in connecting cultures.
Drawing on the experience that Qianyi Qin and TIVS have developed through their activities in China and Japan, we hope to broaden the scope of exchange beyond any particular bilateral relationship, extending from Asia to the wider world. Going beyond differences of nationality and language, respecting the distinctiveness of each culture, and continuing dialogue through music—this, we believe, is the form that international cultural exchange should take in the years ahead.
