On February 26, 2026, the Asian Music and Arts Exchange Competition was successfully held at Showa University of Music in Japan. With the theme “Music Without Borders: Transcending Generations and Nations,” the event brought together music students and artists of different ages and cultural backgrounds, creating a meaningful and inspiring celebration of music. This was not merely a music competition, but also a cross-cultural artistic dialogue.

An Asian Stage for International Exchange

The competition attracted participants from South Korea, Japan, China, Australia, and other countries and regions.Artistic expressions shaped by different cultural backgrounds and systems of musical training came together on the same stage, creating a rich and diverse atmosphere of exchange.

During the JCA International Music Open Competition:

· South Korean contestants won the Gold and Silver Awards for their outstanding vocal performances.

· A Japanese contestant received the Bronze Award for a confident and accomplished piano performance.

· A Chinese contestant received the Award of Excellence.

As an art form that transcends language, music allowed different cultures to understand and respect one another through melody.

Asian Music, Arts and Cultural Exchange Ambassadors

The competition also presented the honorary title of Asian Music, Arts and Cultural Exchange Ambassador.Several contestants from China, Japan, and Australia received this distinction in recognition of their excellent stage performances and artistic presence. The honour acknowledged not only their professional abilities, but also the role of young artists in promoting cultural exchange and international understanding.Music thus became a bridge connecting nations and generations.

A Chinese, Japanese, and Korean Jury: Professionalism and Cooperation

Three teachers from China, Japan, and South Korea jointly served as judges and instructors for the event.Throughout the day, they carried out the judging and guidance process with professionalism, fairness, and careful attention. They also exchanged views on artistic standards and educational philosophies, demonstrating a strong spirit of cooperation within the field of Asian music education.Judging is not only about awarding scores, but also about encouraging and guiding young artists. The stage is not merely a place for competition, but also a platform for mutual cultural learning.

Cultural Resonance on Stage

Inside the professional concert hall of Showa University of Music, the audience enjoyed a wide range of performances, including piano, vocal music, children’s singing, and performances by young artists. From calm and refined piano solos to emotionally expressive vocal performances, and from sincere young voices to mature and confident stage presentations, the musical energy of different generations came together on one stage.Art knows no borders. When the music began, cultural differences were transformed into mutual appreciation. What this stage witnessed was not only a comparison of technique, but also a shared sense of cultural identity and emotional resonance.

The Meaning of Music: Connecting Asia

In an era shaped by both diversity and integration, musical exchange carries an important cultural responsibility.

Through international artistic platforms such as this:

· Young artists develop a broader international perspective.

· Music education philosophies from different countries enter into dialogue.

· Asian cultures gain deeper mutual understanding through artistic expression.

Music reminds us that genuine communication does not depend solely on language, but comes from the heart.

Looking Ahead

“Music Without Borders: Transcending Generations and Nations.”

The Asian Music and Arts Exchange Competition will continue to build a broader, more professional, and internationally influential platform for the arts, allowing music to become an important force for promoting understanding and friendship. When voices from different countries are heard on the same stage, we see a future in which Asian cultures continue to grow together.

Founder of the Tokyo International Vocal Society, Co-organiser’s Representative, and Competition Jury Member

As the founder of the Tokyo International Vocal Society, and as a representative of the co-organising body and a member of the jury, my participation in this competition has further strengthened my belief in the profound value of music within Asian cultural exchange. When young artists from different countries stand on the same stage and express themselves through their most sincere voices, they are doing more than presenting their art. They are taking part in a dialogue between cultures and civilisations.Music requires no translation, yet it can create trust and understanding. The Tokyo International Vocal Society has always been committed to building an open, inclusive platform with an international outlook. We look forward to continuing to deepen musical cooperation across Asia, allowing the arts to become a bond connecting nations and generations, and helping to shape a more confident and distinctive Asian cultural voice through interaction and shared resonance.May music become a bridge.May understanding become our shared foundation.May Asia move towards a more confident, enduring, and far-reaching future through artistic exchange.
